Clan Gatherings The 2008 season was a busy time and perhaps the highlight of the summer was the 1st World Gathering of the MacIntyres. This comprised a week of activities with its focus on the Clan Gathering by the shores of Loch Etive. Some 250 or more Clansmen and women travelled from all corners of the globe and were based for the week in and around Oban and Taynuilt. Members of the clan joined the march to the Taynuilt Highland Games on the penultimate day of their visit. Some even took part in events, from the dancing and piping to the childrens races. Tailored Tours was the main contact and local link for all those taking part. Amongst other events taking place during the Gathering, there was a unique first open-air performance of a drama written especially for the MacIntyre visit. It is very much hoped that this local company will be putting on other dramas next year. I enjoyed co-ordinating the welcome as people arrived in the area and had a great opportunity to meet and talk to some fantastic people who all had a memorable trip in spite of the rain which lasted much of the week! Read the feedback from some of those who attended the MacIntyre Clan Gathering 2008 on our Testimonials page. Tailored Tours looks forward to welcoming all those who are planning visits to Scotland for the Year of the Homecoming in 2009. Whether you are a large group
or one person, hoping to visit places in Scotland connected with your
clan, I am happy to help plan your trip and arrange some great tours
for you. For those with connections to the clans whose stamping grounds
were in the West Highlands and Islands, I have a number of bespoke trips
designed to take in specific places of significance and interest, most
of which can be arranged as day excursions from a base at a hotel or
guest house of our recommendation. |
